Volunteer with CHEXS

By volunteering with CHEXS you will make a real difference to your local community.

You could also learn new skills, improve your CV, build your confidence and meet new people. Not to mention having great fun! We have many opportunities to get involved in volunteering, such as helping run a club or activity within a school or other setting, help support family/adult learning, mentoring a young person who needs a helping hand, helping coordinate our local community days and fundraising collections or driving children and young people to activities to help support their opportunities and develop their knowledge.

Applying to volunteer for CHEXS is very easy!

1. Find your perfect role.

Once you've found a volunteering opportunity you're interested in and considered how it suits your interests and skills.

2. Fill in the volunteer application form and equal opportunities information.

3. Send us your application.

Because we work with children and vulnerable young people, we will need to take up appropriate references and arrange for you to have a Criminal Records (DBS - disclosure and barring service) check prior to volunteering.

Volunteering Opportunities with CHEXS

  • Is Gardening one of your passions?

    We are looking for an enthusiastic Volunteer with a passion for gardening with particular emphasis on growing vegetables. Who enjoys the company of young people and children who would like to share your gardening knowledge and help them appreciate growing their own fruit and vegetables and to learn about healthy eating.

    As a part of our GROW CLUB you would be supporting and guiding the children in our local primary schools to grow their own vegetables, which they can then enter for best on show in our GROW CLUB Finale. Which takes place at our, CHEXS Community Event at Cedar Park in July.

    We are looking for someone who is:
    Enthusiastic and dedicated
    With an interest and aptitude for gardening.
    Good people skills.
    Who would be able to do one hour either during school lunch or after school, one day within the week

    We will provide you with:
    Training and support for planning and organising the sessions.
    We will cover your Travel expenses

    Must have:
    You will be required to complete a criminal record check (DBS)

  • Enjoying working outdoors?

    To help and support young people from schools in our local community, working with the CHEXS Team at Lea Valley Park Authority and other community areas managing the Habitation, Clearing scrubs and creating Dead hedge constructions.

    This enrichment provides our young people an opportunity to work out doors to gain experience working in a team and participating in a community project to improve the area for the local people to use.

    We are looking for someone who:
    Enjoys working with young people and is able to guide them in these outdoor activities.
    Who is willing to participate in physical work out-doors (all weathers)
    Has good communication skills
    Enthusiastic and dedicated

    We will provide you with:
    Training and support
    Experience working with in a team
    Cover your Travel expenses

    Must have:

  • Community Work

    Do you enjoy meeting new people?

    You could help coordinate our local community days. Providing information about CHEXS to the local community. At organised events throughout the year. You would assist in manning our stand at Borough open days, fetes and our own Family day in July when we hold our Grow Club Finale and our award ceremony.

    We are looking for someone who is:
    Friendly and enjoys talking to the general public
    Reliable

    What will provide
    Training and support
    We well cover your Travel expenses
    Experience working in a team

    Must have:

  • Are you creative?

    Would you like support our Christmas Craft and Easter sessions or help out at creative enrichment sessions with Young people and children at local schools.

    Would you be like to help out at our afterschool Christmas and Easter craft sessions at local primary schools for parents/carers and their children to attend to make decorations to take home.

    Or are you a good communicator and enjoy working with young people and children and think you could support and guide them when they are doing creative enrichments such as making one of our willow stags.

    We are looking for someone who is:
    Enjoys working with Young people and children
    Who enjoys art and crafts and being creative
    Working in a team
    A good communicator

    We will provide:
    Training and support
    Cover your Travel expenses

  • Are you a competent driver who is able to drive a mini bus?

    CHEXS works with Young people and children in the local community. We require someone who can drive the children and young people to activities to help support their opportunities and develop their knowledge.
    This would involve picking up and returning the Young People and Children to and from their schools.
    All transportation would take place during school hours to collect and drop off students.

    We are looking for someone:
    Who is a competent driver
    With a clean driving licence
    Enjoys working with young people and children
    Good communication skills
    Reliable

    We will provide:
    Training and support
    Cover your travel expenses

    You must:
